Love v/s Like...

Hi...Everyone....I hope everyone is enjoying there summer...I am also enjoying as I am not taking any classes but working all the day..I am enjoying the work...I am back with an interesting topic....I want to write something about Love... Every time when I start a topic, I have some idea about the topic...This time when I started thinking about these, I thought what do I really know about these..So I started thinking about my own experiences to write this topic. what is Love???? I feel this is the tough word to define..According to me love is an emotional feeling which involves intense and deep caring about another person..This may range from our parents to the life partner. I felt this love throughout my life and everyone of us will feel love but we do not have words to express or explain Love...I love my sister than anyone else...I care for her..I had a lot of affection towards her and I don't have words to explain this...whenever I leave her, I have tears in my eyes..This is Love..I actually don't believe in love at first sight and I think couples that have high divorce rate come from this category..

Like...This is different from Love and I like many persons in my life...Its easy to say goodbye to someone u like but it is difficult to say goodbye to someone u really love...Love requires like and it is essential for love...Love is a commitment that we make. Love is something that involves friendship, caring, patience, acceptance and more important is commitment to your partner. people feel boring about these things at age of 18 but once if you come out of that age you can understand that all these are important for the life and love...How to differentiate between Love and Like...If you are in Love, you are ready to love her/him whatever happens to them..For example, If some severe accident happens to her/him, will you love them and take care of them? If answer to this question is Yes, then you are in Love...Check Spelling
May be I don't know much about Love but I do believe in True Love. This is an open topic and I am expecting comments about this topic..If anyone want to share there experiences with Love..you can do it here...

Stem cells

Hi everyone...I am writing this after 2 months..Many people asked me to write about stem cells...My sis asked me about how these stem cells can work and how they can be stored for future use..Its spring break for me and I decided to spend some time to write about this topic in my blog.
What are stem cells?
Stem cells are the cells which have potency to renew themselves throughout the life. These cells are capable of either differentiating into all cell types or only into specific type of cells. They are classified into two types based on there differentiation.
1. Embroyonic stem cells
2. Adult stem cells
Embroyonic stem cells are capable of differentiating into all types of cells and that is the reason why these cells are very important where as adult stem cells are capable of differentiating into only one particular type of cells like bone marrow cells...Now everyone think of one example for stem cells and I am sure you got something into your mind..Yes, all of you are right..our skin cells are also one type of stem cells which replace immediately if there is some injury. Basically, they act like an internal repair system. I think everyone must have got some basic idea about stem cells by this time.
Now, will go a little deeper into how these stem cells work and about stem cell research. In a 3-5 days old embryo, the inner cell mass give rise to all cell types and produces the entire body of the organism. Three important properties of stem cells make them unique:
1. They are unspecialized
2. capable of dividing and renewing for long periods
3. produces specilaized cell types
Before understanding how these stem cells are useful to humans, I would like to introduce one new term here: Induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)
These are adult cells which are modified to maintain the state of embryonic stem cells by forcing them to express genes necessary for embroyonic stem cells.
These stem cells can be used in research in many ways like drug testing, to understand the complex events that occur during human development(how these cells can produce the whole human body), cancer treatment(abnormal growth occurs during cancer and stem cells also grow abnormally, so which genes are required for abnormal growth? How to turn these genes off?)
The most important use of stem cells is generation of cells and tissues for transplantation therapies.Stem cells can be directed to differentiate into specific cell types and can be used for replacing cells during Alzheimers disease, spinal cord injury, diabetes, heart disease etc.
For example, people suffering from diabetes has insufficient insulin in there body and insulin producing cells are destroyed. These stem cells can be directed to differentiate into insulin producing cells and can be transplanted into the body. Cells from umbilical cord are rich source of stem cells. Cord cells are extracted during pregnancy and stored in cryogenic cell banks. These cells can be used for transplantation to newborn baby in future or to mother, father or any other close relatives. Closer relationship have less chance of rejection.

There are lot of applications of stem cells and they are helping humans for a better health. If there are these many uses of stem cells, why are people against the stem cell research.... People think that stem cell research is killing a baby as cells are extracted from blastocyst (a few days old embryo) but this blastocyst doesnot have any human features and these are created through invitro fertilization purposely for research work. According to me, this is nothing going against god and taking away lives.I am also glad that Obama has restarted the funding for stem cell research by expanding the type of stem cell lines that can be used in research...I never got an opportunity to work with stem cells and I hope I will be working with stem cells in the future.
I think, I gave a better idea of stem cells by this time........Bye for now and I will be coming up with one more interesting topic in few days.

WHY TELANGANA?

I am writing this after a long time..Busy with work and semester but now I thought I need to write something which everyone should know and understand..The hot topic going on in Andhra...Do we really need Telangana? Everyday I am coming across some hot and fresh news about telangana..all the politicians playing games and new dramas. The drama started with KCR and I don't know when this is going to end. I think people are not really educated even though they are going to colleges and getting degree. If some person who even doesn't have a good reputation, cannot get the seats in elections and do any good for the people says that he is on a hunger strike and the normal people believe in him. But the inner truth never comes out. Is he really on hunger strike? According to me, I don't think so. Doctors gave him vitamin tablets ,he is injected everyday with glucose bottles and taking tablets for blood pressure. After seeing all this, if a person has common sense he will never think he is on hunger strike. I cannot understand why people compare him with Potti Sriramulu. Any comparison between KCR and Sriramulu.? UPA government took a decision in overnight telling that the bill will be introduced in theassembly. Ok, may be this is a right decision but if the bill is introduced in the parliament how many MLAs will supprot the bill..Lets have a guess around 180 are from Andhra and Raylaseema and the remaining are from telangana..I think if we compare these numbers the bill will not be passed as the majority people vote for samayikya andhra.

Lets keep this aside for sometime and talk about the results if we get telangana. Who will be the looser if separate telangana is granted. If telangana is granted, will there be water? No dams to get water, krishna and godavari water will not be there for them....will there be any agriculture. Most of the lands are barren..so no water no agricultural lands.. then from where they are going to get the food..again they should buy the food from other states and the cost of the food will be increased..who is effected here..KCR or harish Rao or any other politician? Just the common man...What will they do with industries or IT if the normal food is not available..KCR says that all of our jobs are taken by andhra and rayalaseema people..all of them coming to hyderabad and taking the IT jobs...In any interview, the HR doesn't look whether you are andhra or rayalaseema or telangana people..he is interested in your knowledge and intelligence..HRs always select the people based on your intelligence and not on these useless things....students think about this.

The drama that was started by KCR is being continued by the other politicians who started resigning. All the parties agreed for the telangana before the elections and now they are playing games. If they are against telangana why they went in alliance with TRS. I am not blaming any party in particular..all the parties are behaving in the same manner. Congress tied up with TRS in 2004 elections and then TDP tied up with TRS in the last elections. All of them are playing games and the common people are effected with this. Chiranjeevi also said that he respects the separate telangana issue and now he changed his mind because out of 17 MLAs 15 of them resigned and he had no other choice. Because of all these drams going on, money is wasted, no buses for the common man to travel..and some people are crazy that they even commit suicides for some politicians who even doesn't care about the common man.

When is this issue going to be settled? One answer for this is start taking voting of the people and not the politicians. Keep voting system and take the opinion of the people from all the three regions or just take the opinion and voting telangana people. If the people in telanagana are really interested in a separate state then don't even think of anything else and just give there own state..They will understand the problems after they get the new state.

Students of the universities: what are u getting out of doing rastharokas and bandhs..Are you getting any degree or any money or will the politicians offer you a job...Give me one useful reason why you are participating in these useless things...This applies for both telangana and andhra students.

Wood Frog: Snow Walker

When the winter begins we all start to warm up our houses and try to stay at the place where it is warm. Many animals try to migrate to warmer climate and some stay deep in the soil to sleep but Wood Frogs stay on the surface and withstand the cold... Doesn't this sound interesting?

Wood Frogs are perfect cryo freezers...they freeze and perfectly turn to a solid during winter and come back to life in spring. Now everyone are excited to know how this is possible ..Here comes the story......When winter starts, the skin of Wood frog starts freezing. Then the frog becomes hard and there are some special proteins called nucleating proteins in its blood which causes the water in blood to freeze and pulls most of the water out of the body. At the same time liver starts secreting glucose which is a sugar solution and this helps in preventing additional water being pumped out of body. This thick sugar syrup enter the cells and now the body is like massive amount of sugar syrup inside the cells and ice outside it. This sugar syrup which is glucose acts as an antifreeze. Its heart stops beating and brain ceases but the cells do not freeze. It remains in this condition for two or three months until the spring starts and weather gets warmer.
They reactivate and thaw themselves when the temperature starts to warm up. Water enters slowly into the organs and blood starts to flow and the frog starts to jump and activate itself. Science is so vast and can perform any experiments such that we can find a way to introduce these genes from the frog into the humans and humans can freeze and then reactivate themselves....Also the doctors have only few hours for transplanting the donated organs to a live person before the the organs get damaged and we cannot freeze these organs as they are dehydrated and are damaged. Scientists are now trying to find a way to apply the long-term freezing process to the donated organs so that we can store them for few days to find an appropriate patient.
Now start thinking how the humans look like if we have the ability to freeze like wood frog....then we can with stand all the freezing winters...good to hear right?

Swine flu

I think everyone has been hearing about swine flu from the last four months. The summer should be generally free of flu but this new H1N1 virus is spreading the flu in summer. I had been watching the news saying that India has been effected with swine flu in the last couple of weeks with 12 deaths reported. Its very sad that most of the cases are NRI s who went to India from Us.

H1N1 is actually more dangerous than other flu virus because this virus emerged due to genetic reassortment from 4 different strains of flu virus(One from birds, one from Human and two that circulate in pigs) and right now we don't have any vaccine available for swine flu. Novavax biotech company has already produced a vaccine for H1N1 but the production and release of drug into the market may take at least 6 more months from now. I also heard that cadila pharma from Ahemadabad,India which has a share in Novavax also produced the drug and use of this drug for two times with in three weeks can save an individual from swine flu virus. However this is a long way to go so everyone should take care and keep yourself out of the virus. One more thing to say here is the virus does not spread from pigs to humans. It spreads from one human to another only. If anyone is infected with virus take care that you do not go out into the crowds and keep yourself isolated from others including your family members. The most effected are the children and old people because the immune system is weak in them. This highly risked category must be at caution and take a lot of care like washing your hands frequently and use a alocohol based sanitizers etc.

Swine Flu is spreading very fast in India, So Indians take care of yourself and get rid of the virus.......

Loksatta for a better society...

Last night I had a converation with one of my friend who is a member of loksatta..We started discussing why TDP is always against Loksatta and the conversation reached its peak point where we ended up talking about whether Loksatta can actually bring the change in the coming years. He says that Loksatta can bring a change because of its policies...Then I have been asking him are we do something to bring that change...But he says I influenced many people by educating them about Loksatta and its policies and asking them to vote for loksatta...Even I asked to vote for loksatta and my mom and dad voted for loksatta last time because of me..but My intention here is actually are we really doing something to bring that change in India...He said that the change is possible with an efficient leader and with an efficient party like Loksatta..its right that we require an efficient and dedicated leader for the change to come over but also it should be in each and everyone's mind to follow these ideas to make that change possible.
For example, when we go to India and if we are stuck with parking problem and park the car at the wrong place...If a police comes to write a chelan we tell him not to write and give him some money..I say that this should not happen..If we doesn't follow the rules how can we expect for a change....when we apply for a passport if the constable comes for the address verification..we give him money so that we get the passport easily...I myslef has done this one eventhough I know I shouldnot do this..One of my relative gave money to just pass a file that he filed against the AICTE to expose its faults...See how people are corrupted..To expose a truth..we are giving money because we are helpless at that condition...I am happy that atleast now the AICTE is exposed for all its corruption...
So when is the scenario going to change?..Will JP be able to bring the change?
I think the change should start with me...
Expecting for a clean and better India.......

AICTE steeped in corruption

AICTE..All India Council for Technical Education...I am writing about this because this is one of the most important council which can decide about the engineering colleges and indirectly this is the one which can decide the fate of the students who will be graduating from these colleges. For the past few weeks we have been hearing a lot of things about AICTE. This is one of the example how the corruption has reached its highest point in INDIA. there are aroud 500 colleges in ap and out of these how many colleges have all the labs and equipments...I noticed many colleges having just one buliding and saying that this is an engineering college..how well the students get exposed to the practical knowledge in these colleges..Mr.Narayana Roa is giving permission to these colleges by taking bribes around 20lakhs and if it is his own son/daughter...will he join them in these colleges?

I read an article last week in eenadu titled"sankya sare sarukuvundha" which has been saying about an author named sebastean who wrote an article in washington post about VIT describing how the classes in VIT goes on with all the elctronic boards, online classes etc(http://www.eenadu.net/archives/archive-18-7-2009/home.asp)...this is something good to hear about VIT...but I dont say that VIT is the best..there are some drawbacks in VIT also..however the studies in vit is far better than many engineering colleges in Ap. when I was in VIT I thought I am not exposed to much practical knowledge but I realized the importance of all my lab work I have done in vit after I graduated and joined other institutions..I should also say thanks to Hyderabad central university and Dr. Suresh yenugu where I gained grip on the lab work..But still there is a lot to learn and I am still learning...there is nothing importance showing that Ap has these many number of colleges. whats important here is to see how many colleges have all the labs and resources...Even though I learned some of practical lab work from VIT I feel some what tough after coming to us and getting adjusted to the studies...everything is practical here..u need to analyze..get exposed to the analytical work...here u need to think about the students who are graduating from the colleges which even doesn't have minimum resources.

I think that AICTE must be completely dimantled and a new council with tough guidelines must be formed. If this is not going to happen the education system in India will be worsen furthur and no one from the other country will recognize our degree..Also I advice the parents to think before they join there children in any university or college..take time to go through the university catalogue, websites and see for the resources, infrastructure and labs available and then join your children in the university. I feel that children from there school on wards must be taught in such a way that they analyze and think practically...parents please take time to sit with your child.
I hope atleast now the government will realize and make changes in the education system..
